Remember

The Summer wind whispers goodbye
As the Autumn leaves fall toward the earth
I remember a girl who touched my life
In ways I could never return
Her love comforted me
When I was lost
Her touch gave me hope
That someday I would look into her eyes and feel
For the first time, truly know
That love she tried so hard to show
A love that in time faded
A love that could not find its way home
For now all we have is what might have been
And the memories slowly disappear
Only the sorrow still remains
I think of her
That girl
The girl I could have called my own
If my love for her
I had only shown
