I Know, You Know

I cannot change the way I am
I can hope to make it better.
Drunken night with a hasteful tongue
Is not the way I want to live.
It is hard on you, I know,
To watch me defeat myself.
It's hard on me, you know,
To let your help go.
It's hard on you, I know,
For me to add to an epidemic.
It's hard on me, you see,
By the twists of people's heads in disgust.
It's hard on me, you know,
To make excuses for my problem.
It's hard on you, I know,
To listen to my hungover jibberish.
It's hard on me, you see,
To know this is an outcry.
It's hard on you, I've noticed,
That you cannot do anything.
It's hard on me,
Knowing that you care.
It's hard on you,
Knowing that sometimes I could care less.
You know I will make it work out.
I know you will be there for me.
With all you know, I've seen,
I'm surprised you stand side-by-side with me.
With all I know,
I'm proud to call you brother.
